Avenger Field Texas Sweatshirt with V notch, WWII Reproduction

The Avenger Field Sweatshirt with V notch is available in either Gray or White.
Avenger Field was located in Sweetwater, Texas, and was the home of the Women’s Air Service Pilot training program.

We’ve gotten several requests to make our reproduction Avenger Field T-shirt into a sweatshirt as well. While we don’t know if an Avenger Field shirt existed as a sweatshirt, we do know from other designs in our collection that the bases often had both t-shirts and sweatshirts with the same design.

While the WAFS were immediately stationed in New Castle, Delaware,  Jackie Cochran helped to establish the WFTTD, or women’s flying training detachment. The WFTTD was to train incoming women pilots. The length of training at Avenger Field varied, partly due to a lack of placement opportunities once the pilots graduated from the experimental program.

Once a WASP trainee – or cadet – graduated from training at Avenger Field in Sweetwater, Texas, she became a full-fledged WASP with wings.  One the female fliers graduated and became a  member of the WASP, she would have been stationed at any number of AAF bases.

This sweatshirt is screened by hand and variation in colors naturally occur as they did during WWII.
The sweatshirts are 60% Cotton and 40% Polyester and are Machine Wash Cold with like colors, Tumble Dry Low.
