Benzedrine Sulfate is an amphetamine stimulant drug that was supplied to American and British troops to keep them awake during battle. Nicknamed “pep pills” or “wakey-wakey pills”, Benzedrine Sulfate was supplied in large numbers to the RAF and AAF for long range missions.  The drug was also used by the Marines during the invasion of Tarawa and by the Army during the D-day invasion.  It’s estimated that in total 72 million tablets were distributed amongst American and British Troops.
