This WWII U.S. Coast Guard T shirt is a reproduction of an original WWII PT shirt from a photograph.  This WWII Coast Guard PT Shirt has United States Coast Guard on the front with the Coast Guard design.
During WWII, the United States Coast Guard patrolled the North Atlantic and Greenland.  When German U Boats started sinking ships off the Atlantic Coast, the Coast Guard was involved in rescue operations.  In May of 1942, the Coast Guard sank a German U Boat and captured the first German prisoners taken by the U. S.  The Coast Guard sank 12 German and 2 Japanese submarines and captured 2 German boats. The Coast Guard was part of the North African Invasion, the  D-Day invasion, Omaha Beach and more.
During WWII, athletic style tshirts were available for purchase at the PX and were commonly used in training and athletic situations. PT shirts with a variety of different unit logos are well documented in many WWII photographs.
