Unlike the US Army, who used standard brown shoe polish, the USMC and Women’s Marines were issued cordovan colored shoes. Â Cordovan is a darker, redder brown that’s almost burgundy in color, and gets its name from the city of Cordoba in Spain, where cordovan leather was first produced.
