Description

WWII 3rd Photo Recon Squadron T shirt is a reproduction of an original WWII Guam T Shirt.

The 3rd Photo Reconnaissance Squadron flew out of Saipan and flew missions over Japan, providing the targets for the first B-29 bombing raids against Japan.  They continued to fly recon for the 20th Air Force.  One of their more memorable missions was to fly 15 minutes behind the Enola Gay on August 6, 1945 during the “Little Boy” atomic bombing of Hiroshima.  The Valiant Lady (the name of the aircraft) flew a slow right turn around the clout twice and the crew took many photos.  Three days later, the 3rd Photo Recon SQDN. would take damage photographs of Nagasaki after the “Fat Man” atomic bomb was dropped.

During WWII, athletic style t shirts were available for purchase at the PX and were commonly used in training and athletic situations. PT shirts with a variety of different unit logos are well documented in many WWII photographs.

Just like the original t shirts, this reproduction is 100% cotton with a period-correct narrow 5/8″ neck, shorter sleeves and a slim/snug fit. These WWII Reproductions are true to size. This WWII 3rd Photo Recon Sqdn t-shirt comes in men’s sizes.

This tee shirt is screened by hand and variation in colors naturally occurs.

In addition, our WWII Reproduction PT shirts have a spec tag screened inside the neck.  Women’s sizes are available upon request.  Please send an email to orders@wwiisoldier.com
