Description
The WWII Rupert Paradummy is a reproduction of the deception decoy used as part of the D-Day invasion. This Rupert is made out of canvas and is shipped unstuffed and ready to rig.
In preparation for the D-Day landings, manufacturers produced several variants of Rupert, including versions in both canvas and burlap. We chose to produce the canvas Rupert for greater durability during reenactments. Our Rupert features the proper flaps on his heads, hands, and feet, contrasting biased tape and reinforced grommets.
The 82nd Airborne Museum graciously measured and photographed an original in their collection so that we could make our Rupert as authentic as possible.  For more information on the history of Rupert, consult Heroes in Our Midst volume 1.
Originally, Ruperts were stuffed with straw, but we recommend using polyfill, which is available at most craft or fabric stores. If you are not rigging him, a small foam pillow can be used in his “stomach” for display purposes.
